J Simmon's Letter of Thanks

Dear Barbara,

I'll start with my home. I treated the inside and the outside of my home with the sea salt. There is more harmony within my home than ever before. Even with my dog and my cat. The cat is about 20 years old and she has lived inside the house all her life. The dog is about 11 years old and has recently moved inside. Until I treated my home with the sea salt the animals reacted to each other as dogs and cats do. Now, the dog only uses his door for going in and out to the back yard and the cat uses her door. They eat side by side with no attitudes displayed. My husband has also had a big change. All his adult life he would walk into the house and whatever he had with him or was carrying, he would put it down anywhere and leave it. This past week-end, he initiated a new outlook and cleaning out of files and unwanted items. He shredded old files and documents for four hours.

Working relations have improved greatly. I treated my work space with sea salt and a person with whom I have had an OK work relation has improved to a very open and more personal friendship. Sgt. Bailey told me this morning that he has noticed a change in me as well.
On the tape you mentioned a feeling of a loss of a female in my life. In my work environment, during August, I was told by my supervisor that at work I could not display any type of friendship with my best friend, Kathy. This direct order was misunderstood on my part and caused me grief as if she had been killed. The order did harm and hinder the friendship that I have with Kathy. Also in August, my mother announced to me that she was going to marry her boyfriend Gene. I also felt a great loss during the weeks prior to her marriage. Mother and I are also very close.
You also mentioned a trip in the winter months. Every winter, usually in February, I visit my Mother in her winter home. The winter home is in Rio Hondo, Texas.

As for the artistic abilities, yes at one time I did paint. I did some watercolor but preferred oils. I love to sing and have been told I have a lovely voice. I have written some poetry. Two of my poems have been published.

During my years of age 28 to age 46, my son was born just after my 24th birthday. And 7 months later my husband and the father of my son, announced that he did not want to be married or have the responsibilities of a family. At ages 30, 32, & 36 I did re-marry, but it just didn't work out. At the age of 33 I enlisted in the United States Navy. I had been working in a family owned business for about 8 years and the economy had turned very bad for the business. I was in the Navy for 4 years 5 months and 1 day. I have been stationed in Pittsburgh PA, Groton CT, and Charleston SC. I have traveled overseas and visited Spain, Crete, Grease, Italy, and Turkey as well as Cuba and St. Thomas. After the Navy, I enrolled in college. I chose the Early Childhood Education route. I taught pre-school and kindergarten as well as later became the Executive Director of the Amarillo Montessori Academy. It seems as if that lifetime did not work out, so I held a job as a store manager and an Executive Assistant. I met and married my current husband wile working at the store. Then 9/11 happened. I had money left on my GI bill and I again enrolled in college. This time I chose and was accepted to the Police Academy. When asked why police at my age (46)? My reply was, I just did not feel that I was giving enough back to my community or country as a secretary. (The humanitarian you mentioned on the tape.)

Just after I turned age 47, my dearly beloved dad died very suddenly. The sorrow associated with his passing has been my greatest challenge. But after our short visit in the airport a few weeks ago my healing is more noticeable.

My job here at the airport has not been easy. The work and my duties are not difficult, but I have had many co-workers who felt I was not the right person for the position. August 13, 2003 was my hire date. I've had a supervisor, who is no longer employed here, as well as three co-workers, also no longer employed here, that went as far as to make false reports to the Police Commander in an effort to have me fired. But I just keep holding to the thought "That which does not destroy us, make us stronger".

I'm sorry to take up so much of your time but you truly do know me and my life through your work. I'll be glad to fill in more the details anytime. Thanks for all you have done to enlighten me!

In Light and Love,
J Simmons
